# Add an Image to a Question

By adding an image to a question you can quickly and easily add visual context to a question, enabling you to test things like a new logo, name, visual indicator, button or other visual element without much effort.

This functionality is available for Surveys and In-Product Surveys.

## **Set up**

Since images can contain sensitive information, before editors can access the option to upload an image in the Study Builder, an Admin needs to enable the functionality. To do this, have an Admin navigate to **Settings > Surveys > Configure > Allow Images in Questions** and switch the toggle on.

## **Add an Image or Gif to a Question**

1. Once the functionality is enabled, navigate to a new or existing Survey or In-Product Survey.
2. Navigate to an existing question or add a new one.
   1. Adding an image or gif works with all question types **except**:
      1. Video & Voice
      2. AI Dynamic
      3. Multi-Question: Single Page
3. Click the “**Add Media**” button on the right side of the question header.
4. Follow the file type and size requirements and upload an image or gif. Add Alt Text for users who rely on screen readers.
   1. Note: In files that are uploaded with spaces in their names, the spaces will be replaced with underscores.
5. Edit and preview as needed.
6. Launch the survey.

## **FAQs**

* You can modify or remove images after launch.
* This functionality works with both the standard and conversation survey formats.
* To have an image or gif display in a mobile or web app survey, you will need to be on the most [current version of the SDK](https://docs.sprig.com/docs/developer-center/sprig-sdk/features-by-sdk-version).
  * Mobile SDK support is expected to be available later in July.
* It is not yet possible to translate the alt text for images. Please let us know if you need this!
* Images that are rectangular or square-shaped work best. Images that are very skinny, either horizontally or vertically, can be awkward for respondents to view.
* This functionality is not compatible with the old link format In-Product Surveys.
