# Creating Surveys

There are multiple ways to get started creating Surveys.

# 1. Survey Creation

### Option A: [Use AI File Upload](/docs/native-ai/design-agent/ai-file-upload-builder)

* Click on **+ New Study** and then **Upload Survey Draft.** Then, upload your file and let AI generate and program your survey for you based on your draft.

### **Option B: [Use an AI Prompt](/docs/native-ai/design-agent/prompt-based-builder)**

* Click on **+ New Study** and then **Create with AI**. Then, simply input your Agent Context and let AI generate a few first-pass template ideas for you based on your use case.

### Option C: Create from Scratch

1. Click on **+ New Study** and select "Survey" from the **Start from Scratch** widget

### Option D: Duplicate

1. In the Navigate Pane, click **Studies**.
2. Hold the pointer over the Survey study you want to copy, then click the triple-dot-icon and select **Duplicate**.
3. Edit the study as desired.

### **Option E: Use a Template**

1. Click on **+ New Study** and select **Create from a Template** to harness a company-owned custom template OR use a pre-built, expert-made template from Sprig's template library.

Next, you'll see the **Sprig Study Editor.** Here, you can add questions and descriptions, set button and label text, and response options.

# 2. Add or Modify Questions and Skip Logic

There are a ton of question types to choose from, plus additional customization options like consent/legal modules, response piping, randomization, skip logic, and more. See HERE for more information.

1. In the top field of the builder, **rename your study** to something recognizable.
2. To create a page that shows multiple questions at once, add a **Multi-Question: Single Page** question.
3. Select **Add Questions+** to add additional questions to your study, or click into individual questions to made modifications. You can also duplicate questions and select to "Insert new below" by clicking on the ellipses (**...**) in the upper right corner of any question box.
   1. *Note: you can compress the survey using the arrow in the upper right corner of the builder for easy review of all questions and logic.*
4. **Customize your survey logic** using skip logic, randomization of questions or response options, piping of responses and/or attributes, and more.

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Marking a Question as Required">
    Toggle *Required* on or off at the top of each question card. *Required* questions disallow your users to skip ahead in the study.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Drag to Change the Order of Questions">
    Click on the question number to the left of each question module and drag and drop it to the desired position in your study.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Adding Survey Translations">
    To offer translated versions of the survey click the globe icon next to the **"Add Question"** button at the top of the Study Editor. This will add a new "Language" section to the bottom of the survey where you can select the languages you want the survey to be available in, download a CSV to add the translations to, and upload the completed translation file. If a survey has more than one language, respondents will see a language drop down when taking the survey.

# 3. Audience & Response Settings

Once you've finished building the survey, head to the **Audience** tab.

1. **Select your delivery mechanism:**
   1. Surveys are delivered by a link by default (which can be sent through your email delivery or SMS delivery tools, linked to a Sprig In-Product Survey, and more).
   2. You can choose to [deliver the survey through a User Interviews](/docs/Integrations/data-collection/user-interviews) panel through Sprig's pre-built integration.
   3. You can also generate a QR code directly from Sprig for survey delivery (for example, during events, in-person meetings, etc.)

<Tip>
  For more information, see [Delivering Surveys.](https://docs.sprig.com/docs/sprig-studies/surveys/delivering-surveys)
</Tip>

2. **Set how many responses you want to collect.** You can select response collection:
   1. Until a specific number
   2. Until a specified date
   3. Ongoing

# 4. Survey Settings

There are two items that can be customized on a per-survey basis in the Settings tab of a Survey: the respondent experience and the visibility of branding elements.

### **Respondent Experience**

Sprig offers two different experiences when it comes to the respondent view of surveys:

1. Standard - a typical click-to-move-forward layout
2. [Conversational](/docs/shared-study-foundations/main-tasks/conversational-surveys) - a chat-like layout where questions automatically appear after the respondent answers

### **Branding**

By default Surveys show the brand color and logo configured in **Settings > Surveys > Look & Feel**. To distribute an unbranded Survey, select the "**Hide branding**" option instead of the "**Show branding**" option which is the default.

Once you’ve finished configuring the options in the Settings tab, you can preview your survey to make sure it looks exactly how you’d like.

Note this is only available for customers on the **Enterprise** plan.

# 5. Launch

You're all set! You're ready to launch and [deliver your Survey.](/docs/sprig-studies/surveys/delivering-surveys)
